Deer Hunter Gets Fooled By a Fake Buck

This man's friends set up a decoy of a giant buck, and only after putting three rounds into it and thinking he's gotten it does the hunter go and check. To his chagrin, he's been pranked.

How did he not notice that the deer did not react in any way to the gunshots? And how brave are his friends to prank a man who is holding a rifle?
